VIETNAM – UNITED KINGDOM HIGHER EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS PROJECT: MEETING WITH UK AND VIETNAM PARTNERS

On June 6 2019, Mien Tay Construction University had an official meeting with the delegation of HEP Project including University of Salford, Cranfield University and Can Tho University to strengthen effectively university – industry linkages.

Participated in the meeting were Professor Zeeshan Aziz, Dr. Amina Helal – representatives of University of Salford, and Dr. Rebecca Charles – representative of Cranfield Univeristy. On behalf of Mien Tay Construction University (MTU), Rector of MTU, Dr. Nguyen Van Xuan, delivered impressive sharing with the views from practice of MTU.




Mr. Nguyen Van Xuan spoke at the meeting.


According to the Rector Nguyen Van Xuan, the meeting is a connection for higher education institutions from the UK and Vietnam to join and discuss about issues and challenges for higher education partnerships (HEP), along with sharing modern HEP trends while ensuring the quality and set university - industry linkages into a new leap of development.

Speaking at the meeting, Professor Zeeshan Aziz confirmed and discussed on developing effective university iIndustry linkages through:

• Establishing UI professional networks to support and develop academic staff engaged in U-I.

• Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTPs).

• Engaging employers to enhance the curriculum and address graduate employability.

• Capacity building to enhance UI capacity through doctoral programme, skills for enterprise, university infrastructure to support UI linkages.




Overview of the meeting


Together with representatives from other universities of Vietnam, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Chi Ngon of Can Tho University delivered meaningful discussion from Vietnam higher education institution’s practice. Thus, to match with the HEI waves, the universities has been encouraging international cooperation network, establishing the community for training and research, and cooperating with enterprises in Vietnam and around the globe. Additionally, other international activities such as student exchange, joint-training and joint-research programs have also been paid more attention.

At the end of the meeting, delegation of HEP took a visit to Phat Lam Son Construction Investment and Consultancy Company in Vinh Long City and had an official discussion on U-I linkages with the board of director of the Phat Lam Son.
